Lisa Clark is the face behind Heart-Centered Copy. In her blog, she describes how her son and a song remind her daily to make every day the best day.
In 2018, Clark wrote about how her son wanted to hear “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors on the way to school. Every day.
The routine, the song and its message helped empower Clark’s son. But, as much as she tried to live her best life daily, certain days dragged on.
“I try,” Clark wrote. “I really try to remember the wisdom from that little boy, but some days just really kick you when you’re down. Some days are difficult to call our ‘best days.’”
And hearing “Best Day of My Life” randomly on the radio on one particular rough day helped Clark chose to change her mood. She then let go of any crankiness, worry and anxiety.

That’s the power of music and memory.
How I Got Into That Band
This blog is being reinvented as a place to house a column on the meaning of music. More than the notes that structure a song, we want to show people how melody connects people. Places harbor choruses. Bands encompass histories.
We’re looking for stories about how music moved you in life. How you first heard that artist or song that decades later reminds you of an old friend, an experience or a feeling.
If you’d like to contribute a guest blog (or have us link back to your story on your blog), please email HowIGotIntoThatBand@gmail.com
The idea for this column started years ago when Ellen and I ran Target Audience Magazine, an online arts magazine for entrepreneurs. A couple of pieces still remain there, such as How I Got Into Soundgarden. Jeff Miles wrote about the band after the death of Chris Cornell.
We’re also planning to produce a podcast where I play music to accompany the stories. Look for that on this blog this fall.
