Green numbers represent the caged chord shape.
Blue numbers represent other chord tones.
Black numbers represent passing tones.
Use the chart below to start improvising with the shape. Avoid staying on the Black numbers because they’re passing tones. The Green and Blue numbers are notes in the C Major chord, so they will have an inside resolved sound. The passing tones have a dissonant sound, but they’re useful in creating tension. Landing on a chord toned after play a passing tone a few times is a good way to develop tension and release.
