Power chords are the next step beyond playing single notes.
The funny thing is a Power Chord is not a chord at all, but an interval of a perfect 5th.
That’s why the chord symbol for a Power Chord is a letter and the number 5 like A5 and E5.
The letter is the root of the chord the number is for the 5th, which by the way is the same interval in the Star Wars Theme.
Power Chords have a less muddled when using distortion than a full chord.
The extra note in a typical triad can make the chord hard to understand to the listener.
